Belle Vue boss Mark Lemon was delighted to see his side overcome its travel sickness as they triumphed 49-41 away to King’s Lynn in the Rowe Motor Oil Premiership on Monday.
Aussie racer Zach Cook starred on 13 paid 14 points for the Aces, while world No.2 Brady Kurtz tallied 10 and world No.3 Dan Bewley notched nine paid 11.
Lemon was pleased to see his side pick up a big win on the road. He said: “It’s true that we probably haven’t travelled that well in the last couple of years, so I’m really delighted with the performance.
“From one to seven the boys were solid. We got off to a winning start, we had the momentum with us, and we were all learning and working together as a collective as the track was changing.
“We had no weak links, and that helps. The boys really gelled together and helped each other out, which was really nice to see, and I think that contributed to the performance and the result.
“Zach was on fire, and he deserved heat 15. He wasn’t too impressed when I gave him gate one, but he certainly made the most of it!”
Speedway GP star Max Fricke topped the King’s Lynn scoring on 11 points, with Czech charger Jan Kvech racing to 10 and British shooting star Cooper Rushen adding seven paid 10 in another swashbuckling performance.
Skipper Chris Harris, who registered six paid seven, said: “It’s a disappointing result. We knew it was going to be tough. Belle Vue is a solid side, and we just didn’t have our gating gloves on.
“There are no excuses; the better team won on the night. They were sharper, they seemed hungrier for it, and we have to regroup and come back next time.”
