Danish young gun Mikkel Andersen has confirmed he suffered a “fracture of the fibula bone” when he crashed out of FIM Speedway of Nations – SON2 – Prague on Friday night.
The 2022 SGP3 champion tumbled in heat 11 as the Danes battled Great Britain, and he took no further part in racing.
Teammates Villads Nagel and Bastian Pedersen raced to the silver medals in his absence with Poland defeating them in heat 28 to seal gold.
Andersen confirms he will now seek treatment. Posting on Facebook, he wrote: “The Danish boys secured the silver medals in Prague tonight.
“Mikkel didn’t have the best success as he ended up in the fence in heat 11. X-rays of his right leg/ankle unfortunately showed a fracture of the fibula bone just above the ankle.
“The team is now on the way to Wroclaw, and we will hopefully meet up with their medical specialist and make a plan for a speedy recovery.”
