Aussie young gun Fraser Bowes takes the step into Denmark’s Speedwayligaen in 2026 after signing for Esbjerg.
The former SON2 rider raced for Tarnow in Poland’s Metalkas 2. Ekstraliga, as well as competing for Lublin in the Under-24 Ekstraliga, Workington in Britain’s Cab Direct Championship and Solkatterna in Sweden’s Allsvenskan League.
Bowes has already signed for Championship double winners Poole for 2026 and can’t wait to step into Denmark’s top tier.
He said: “I'm really excited to be joining the Esbjerg Vikings for the 2026 season. After such a busy year, getting the message from Tom P Madsen about joining the team was a huge moment for me. It feels like another big step forward in my career.
“I've been working hard to break into the Speedwayligaen, and with a club like Esbjerg, I know I'll have every opportunity to learn, grow, and challenge myself at the next level.
“I want to thank Tom for believing in me and giving me this chance. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and getting started next year.”
Madsen commented: “He may not be a name everyone in Denmark knows yet, but we believe he can become a real dark horse in the 2026 season, and that is precisely why we have chosen to sign him now. At 24 years old, he will have a full season behind him in both England and Poland in 2025, and we are convinced that those experiences have given him valuable learning and prepared him to take the next steps in his career.
“We look forward to following his development and are confident that he can surprise positively in the upcoming season.”
Elsewhere, Grindsted has agreed terms with former Speedway GP star Kenneth Bjerre for 2026. The Dane said: "It means a lot to me to continue in Grindsted, and my personal goal with the club is clear: We must win medals. We are getting closer all the time, and everyone in and around the club has the same objective.”
