Great Britain racer Tom Brennan declared he’s “going to be strong and healthy for the start of the year” as he prepares to defend his Ben Fund Bonanza title in Glasgow on March 28.
The double FIM Speedway of Nations world champion lines up in an event staged to raise vital funds for the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund – a UK-based charity that supports riders temporarily or permanently sidelined by injuries suffered in British Speedway events, or while representing GB.
Brennan sustained multiple injuries when he crashed at an event in California last October and is battling hard to be fully fit for the new season.
One of his first meetings will be the Ben Fund Bonanza – an event he won at Oxford in 2025 – and he’s pleased with his recovery so far as he works his way back to fitness.
He said: “I fractured the tibia and fibula on my left leg. It's going well. I've been very fortunate having really good people to help me with that and the injuries are progressing nicely.
“I'm now trying to get back to some sort of training and things like that, but it's very slow. We're trying to do everything within good reason, but as far as I'm concerned, we are going to be strong and healthy for the start of the year.”
Brennan is joined in the Ben Fund Bonanza line-up by former Speedway GP winners Chris Harris and Peter Kildemand.
