British Speedway Promoters Ltd has confirmed that their 2026 annual meeting, scheduled for November 3, has been postponed.
Rules for the next season are normally announced following the meeting of Rowe Motor Oil Premiership and Cab Direct Championship promoters.
However, BSPL has released a statement on its website, playing down any concerns over the annual meeting’s delay, and insisting that talks to confirm plans for both leagues are already well underway, regardless of when the AGM takes place.
The statement read: “British Speedway Promoters Ltd can confirm their AGM scheduled for November 3 has been postponed for administrative reasons.
“The meeting, which acts as the formal conclusion of business for the current year, will be re-arranged in the near future.
“The AGM itself does not directly determine the structure of the sport for the following season as discussions regarding 2027 and beyond have been taking place for some time, and both Premiership and Championship clubs continue to work to formalise arrangements.
“A statement regarding next year’s structure, including any key regulation changes, will be issued when these details have been fully agreed and ratified, and this is not directly associated with the AGM.”
Some clubs, notably Berwick, have already announced 2027 signings, with others set to reveal riders soon. But the BSPL statement added: “It should be emphasised that any announcements from individual clubs regarding rider signings for 2027 remain subject to approval.”
