CZECH SENSATION BEDNAR SET FOR SPEEDWAY GP DEBUT IN PRAGUE

Czech teenage sensation Adam Bubba Bednar makes his Speedway GP debut after being promoted into the FIM Speedway GP of Czech Republic – Prague wild-card spot for Saturday night.

Great Britain icon Dan Bewley has officially withdrawn from the event after suffering a broken femur and compressed vertebra in a crash at Danish track Outrup on Wednesday.

Under rule 3.4 of the Speedway GP sporting code, β€œIn the event of the withdrawal of a permanent qualified rider from any round, a rider on the list of nominated substitutes will take preference over an existing wild card/track reserve nomination.”

Therefore, as 2026 Speedway GP second substitute rider, Czech charger Jan Kvech replaces Bewley in the event – vacating the wild-card position he initially received. First substitute Anders Thomsen is already in the line-up as cover for injured Swedish star Fredrik Lindgren.

Bednar was initially due to be first track reserve, but he now steps up into the No.16 wild-card race jacket for what will be his first-ever Speedway GP appearance.

The 18-year-old also makes history as the first rider to compete in Speedway GP, SGP2 (U21) and SGP3 (U16) since the current FIM Speedway World Championships pyramid structure was rebranded in 2022.

The FIM Czech Speedway GP line-up is completed by Czech internationals Daniel Klima and Adam Nejezchleba, who serve as track reserves. Klima steps up into the No.17 spot vacated by Bednar, while Nejezchleba takes on the No.18 race jacket.

Everyone involved in FIM Speedway wishes both Fredrik and Dan a full and speedy recovery from their injuries.
