DANISH ACE IVERSEN STAYS WITH HOMETOWN TEAM

Local hero Niels-Kristian Iversen extends his stay with hometown team Esbjerg into a 16th straight season in 2026.

The former world No.3 and seven-time Danish champion has starred for the coastal club since 2011, and he is determined to raise the bar on home shale next year.

The 43-year-old said: “I am really looking forward to another season with Esbjerg Vikings. Motivation is at its peak and I am working hard on my preparations for the new season.

“My form in the Speedwayligaen was about the same in 2025, but on my home track at Granly Speedway Arena, I was not satisfied with many of my performances. This is something I am focused on and want to improve.

“Our team looks strong, and I am looking forward to showing the best version of myself and helping the team to the top of the league. I look forward to meeting and greeting our loyal fans in the spring. Have a great winter – see you!”

Elsewhere, Speedwayligaen newcomers Nordjysk Elite Speedway has snapped up double Australian champion Rohan Tungate.

The Kurri Kurri-born racer hopes to lead the Brovst side into the play-offs in their comeback season at the top level.

He said: “I'm really excited to be a part of NES in 2026. Together we will try to win as many matches as possible and hopefully we can do well and qualify for the finals.

“But we have got to take it one match at a time and keep focused on ourselves. And then we must not forget that at the same time, we must have fun and deliver some good racing for the audience.”
