New Danish Under-21 champion Bastian Pedersen returns to the FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship as wild card for the series-deciding 2026 Deluxe Homeart FIM SGP2 of Denmark – Vojens on Friday, September 11.
Pedersen secured the opportunity at Denmark’s storied national speedway stadium after winning his second Danish Under-21 crown in Holstebro on Monday, regaining the title he previously won in 2024.
Nephew of triple Speedway GP world champion Nicki Pedersen and son of SGP appearance-maker Ronni Pedersen, Bastian is no stranger to the world stage.
He finished 11th in the 2024 World Under-21 series, before lining up as last season’s SGP2 wild card in Vojens – finishing second. He was also part of the Danish side which won back-to-back FIM Speedway of Nations – SON2 silver medals on October 3, 2025, in Torun, Poland, and in Czech capital Prague on May 22.
Pedersen races for Holsted in Denmark’s Speedwayligaen, as well as competing for Polish club Grudziadz in the PGE Ekstraliga and Dackarna in Sweden’s Bauhaus Elitserien.
He is joined in Vojens by track reserves Dimitri Buch and Patrick Kruse, who line up in the No.17 and No.18 race jackets respectively.
Meanwhile, the field for the 2026 Deluxe Homeart FIM Speedway GP of Denmark – Vojens on Saturday, September 12 is completed by track reserves Anders Thomsen and Mikkel Andersen, who line up at No.17 and No.18 respectively, joining previously-announced wild card Frederik Jakobsen in the event.
Thomsen is first substitute rider for this season’s SGP series and won the BST FIM Speedway GP of Sweden – Malilla on July 11. In the event that he is called up to cover for an injured rider, a replacement track reserve will be selected.
Meanwhile, second track reserve Andersen heads into the Deluxe Homeart FIM SGP2 of Denmark – Vojens as FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship leader, needing just a top-six finish or 11 championship points to secure the SGP2 title. He will then cross his fingers for the chance to do double duty and also compete in Saturday’s SGP event.
