DANISH RACER MIKKEL ANDERSEN SURGES INTO SGP2 LEAD WITH LODZ VICTORY

Danish sensation Mikkel Andersen took a giant stride towards the FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship after winning the 2026 Sportlab Cosmetics FIM SGP2 of Poland – Lodz on Friday.

Andersen topped the podium in front of a sizeable crowd of 6,630 fans at the Moto Arena Lodz after second-placed Polish rival Maksymilian Pawelczak crashed out of a restarted final, leaving the Wroclaw star as the last rider standing.

Andersen is now on 38 points in total, 10 clear of Pawelczak, who has 28 in second place. If the Dane scores 11 championship points, finishing in sixth place or better at the Deluxe Homeart FIM SGP2 of Denmark – Vojens on September 11, this would guarantee him the gold medal on his Danish Speedwayligaen home track.

The final was started twice with Australian star Beau Bailey falling on the first turn, bringing down Danish racer Nicolai Heiselberg, who was unfit to take his place in the rerun. Heiselberg was ranked third on the night, with Bailey placed fourth.
