DANISH RACER THOMSEN ENDS FOUR-YEAR SPEEDWAY GP VICTORY QUEST IN MALILLA

Triple Danish champion Anders Thomsen ended his four-year wait for an FIM Speedway Grand Prix win as he topped the podium in the 2026 BST FIM Speedway GP of Sweden – Malilla on Saturday.

Thomsen triumphed ahead of Great Britain racer Robert Lambert, denying him a sensational six-ride maximum after the double FIM Speedway of Nations world champion blazed to a 15-point full house in his five heats.

Polish icon Bartosz Zmarzlik beat Speedway GP World Championship rival Brady Kurtz to third place, extending his series lead to five points over the Aussie, who was fourth.

This is Thomsen’s first Speedway GP win since he was victorious on his Polish home track Gorzow on June 25, 2022.

He was called into the event as a substitute for injured Great Britain racer Dan Bewley and took the opportunity with both hands, enjoying the podium celebrations, before getting back on the bike to deliver one of his trademark victory laps in his underwear for the Malilla fans.
