Danish SGP2 star Mikkel Andersen was crowned 2026 FIM Speedway Under-21 world champion at his home track Vojens on Friday.
The 18-year-old sealed the title at the Deluxe Homeart FIM SGP of Denmark – Vojens on Friday after reaching the last-chance qualifiers. He finished the three-round series on 46 points – 20 of them achieved courtesy of his victory at the Sportlab Cosmetics FIM SGP2 of Poland – Lodz on July 31.
Andersen, who won the SGP3 world title in Wroclaw in 2022, becomes the first former FIM Speedway Youth World Championship winner to go on and lift the FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship.
Son of former Speedway GP winner Brian Andersen, Mikkel sent his home fans wild at Vojens Speedway Center, where he has spent his formative years in 500cc competition, racing for Sønderjylland Elite Speedway.
Danish racer Nicolai Heiselberg won the Deluxe Homeart FIM SGP2 of Denmark – Vojens to take the silver medal on 42 points, with 2024 SGP2 champion Wiktor Przyjemski taking second place on the night to bag bronze overall on 38.
