Rafal Dobrucki has resigned as coach of the Polish national team.
Dobrucki became Polish Under-21 team manager in 2012 and also took charge of the senior side in December 2020 following the departure of Marek Cieslak.
Dobrucki led his country to 2023 SWC gold in one of the all-time great world team finals at Wroclaw’s Olympic Stadium, which saw Maciej Janowski pass Great Britain’s Robert Lambert going into the final lap to snatch the title.
In the FIM Speedway of Nations, Dobrucki led Poland to silver medals in 2021 and 2025. Dobrucki’s departure comes after Australia beat Poland 7-2 in the SON Grand Final in Torun on October 4.
Dobrucki enjoyed huge success at junior level as the Poles dominated in the FIM Team Speedway Under-21 World Championship, winning 12 gold medals and taking victory in all but two seasons under his leadership.
The Poles ended FIM Speedway of Nations – SON2 without a medal this season, claiming fourth place at an epic event in Torun, which saw Germany emerge as shock winners, lifting their first-ever world team title at any level.
During his tenure as Polish senior and junior boss, the nation’s riders won over 50 individual and team medals at European and World Championship level.
Dobrucki’s replacement leads the national side into the 2026 FIM Speedway World Cup Final at Warsaw’s PGE Narodowy, where they will be joined by SON world champions Australia in the biggest team event the sport has witnessed for generations.
