Aussie international Ryan Douglas is ready to take on Leicester’s No.1 spot after securing a return for 2026.
Douglas heads into his fifth season with the Lions – a club he has represented across two separate spells. He has played a key role in their charge to back-to-back Premiership play-off finals, as well as helping them win the 2025 Premiership Knockout Cup. Douglas was also part of their title-winning side at Championship level in 2019.
With Speedway GP star Max Fricke on his way to King’s Lynn, Douglas looks set to step up as Lions' top gun for 2026, and it’s a challenge he can’t wait to take on.
He said: “I’ve always enjoyed being part of Leicester, both at Championship and Premiership level, and when the opportunity came to return, it really was an easy decision for me.
“Working with (team manager) Stewart (Dickson) is great, and there’s always a good team atmosphere, which makes a difference throughout the season.
“It looks like I’ll be riding at No.1, which is an exciting challenge. I feel like I had a breakthrough with my home performances last season and believe there’s still more improvement to come. Thanks to everyone who supported me this season — I’m looking forward to seeing you all again next year.”
