DOYLE RACES TO SIX-RIDE DANISH MAX

Aussie ace Jason Doyle racked up a 17 paid 18-point maximum for Danish club Esbjerg as they triumphed 52-32 at home to Grindsted in the Speedwayligaen on Wednesday.

Doyle went unbeaten over six rides for the coastal club and was backed up by 11 paid 12 from local hero Niels-Kristian Iversen, plus 10 paid 12 from USA star Luke Becker and 10 from Matias Nielsen.

Former SGP2 star Villads Nagel topped the Grindsted scoring on 12 paid 13 points, with Norway’s Mathias Pollestad and Danish rider Tim Sorensen adding eight paid nine apiece.

Elsewhere, Anders Thomsen warmed up for his Speedway GP return in Prague on Saturday by scoring 17 points as Vojens club Sonderjylland Elite Speedway won 43-41 away to Holsted.

Thomsen went unbeaten in his final five rides, with Mads Hansen also impressing on 11 paid 12.

SON2 pick Bastian Pedersen led the Holsted scoring on 11 paid 13, with former Danish champion Rasmus Jensen tallying 11 paid 12 and double Swedish champion Jacob Thorssell adding a straight 11.

The match between Region Varde and champions Slangerup in Outrup was abandoned due to damage to the safety fence following a high-speed crash for Dan Bewley in heat one, which left him with a broken femur and a compressed vertebrae in his back.

The day’s other meeting between Brovst and Fjelsted was postponed due to rain that resulted in tough track conditions.
