DUDEK: POLES ON TRACK FOR WARSAW SUCCESS

European champion Patryk Dudek scotched suggestions that Poland’s rivals will adapt better to the PGE Narodowy track for the PZM FIM Speedway World Cup Final in Warsaw on August 29.

Dudek is among the favourites to start for Poland in the nation’s capital, where he could win a fifth gold medal in as many SWC Final appearances.

The Torun hero has become a lucky charm for his country in these events, but some critics have suggested this run may end on a tight and technical Warsaw track, where Aussie stars Jack Holder, Jason Doyle and Max Fricke have all won Speedway GP rounds, with Brady Kurtz taking second spot in 2025.

The Roos are guaranteed to face Poland after winning the 2025 FIM Speedway of Nations world title in Torun, and they will be joined by the winners of Semi-Finals 1 and 2 in Landshut on May 1 and Riga on August 7.

Poland’s finest are no strangers to racing on smaller circuits, and Dudek has no fears about their ability to transition from the nation’s fast and furious club tracks to Warsaw’s 273-metre oval.

He said: “I think there's no rider in our senior squad who's surprised by any track. Everyone knows how to ride a speedway bike, and if we read the track conditions better, we can definitely win the World Championship.”

Dudek is delighted to see the SWC heading for PGE Narodowy, where the Final could be contested in front of the biggest crowd to witness an FIM Speedway world team event for over half a century.

He said: “I think we should be happy that the SWC is being held in Poland, and at PGE Narodowy. We should be happy that such a prestigious event is taking place here.

“I really enjoy this kind of show, and if we're going to promote, develop and attract sponsors for our sport, it's only through facilities like these and top-tier competitions.”

Asked his hopes for a huge night of racing, Dudek admitted securing his spot in a fiercely-competitive national side is job No.1. He said: “I want to race well enough to make the national team, and then I want the stadium to be packed to capacity for the competition.”
