DUDEK WINS IN OSTROW TO LEAD POLISH TITLE RACE

Former world No.2 Patryk Dudek took a step closer to becoming a two-time national champion after winning round two of the Polish Championship series in Ostrow on Saturday.

Dudek cruised through to the final automatically with 14 race points, before topping the podium with victory over Speedway GP star Dominik Kubera in second and SGP2 champion Wiktor Przyjemski in third in the final.

Five-time Speedway GP world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik matched Dudek’s mark of 14 race points in the heats, qualifying automatically for the final. But Zmarzlik’s hopes of a fourth Polish title suffered a setback when he was disqualified after hitting a rut and clashing with Kubera.

Victory in the final saw Dudek leave Ostrow with 17 points – putting him on 32 overall to give him a four-point advantage over Kubera, who has 28, going into the final round in Czestochowa on August 15. Zmarzlik is third on 26, with Przyjemski and Kacper Woryna chasing on 22.

Kubera was forced into the last-chance race after scoring 13 in the heats. Przyjemski qualified on 11 and took the win ahead of his Lublin teammate, while Woryna finished third and Gleb Chugunov took fourth place.
