EKSTRALIGA | LUBLIN REACHES FIFTH STRAIGHT PLAY-OFF FINAL

Aussie ace Jack Holder raced to 11 points for PGE Ekstraliga champions Lublin as they cruised into the play-off final with a 50-40 semi-final, second-leg victory at home to Grudziadz on Friday.

Lublin reached their fifth straight play-off final and set up a showdown with either Torun or Wroclaw after winning the semi-final tie 97-83 on aggregate. Torun defends a 52-38 lead when they visit Wroclaw for their second leg on Sunday. The losing side faces Grudziadz in the bronze medal play-off.

Holder dropped just a point for Lublin as he scored 11 from four races. Five-time Speedway GP world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik tallied 10, while Dominik Kubera notched nine paid 10 and Fredrik Lindgren scored seven paid eight.

The meeting ended with a disqualification for Zmarzlik in heat 15 after he felled teammate Bartosz Banbor. But the former SGP2 rider got up to win the rerun.

Danish champion Michael Jepsen Jensen scored 11 points for Grudziadz as he limbers up for his Deluxe Homeart FIM Speedway GP of Denmark – Vojens wild-card appearance on September 13. Vadim Tarasenko collected nine paid 10, with Max Fricke adding five paid seven.

In the play-off to avoid instant relegation, Gorzow took a step closer to PGE Ekstraliga survival after winning the first leg 51-39 away to Rybnik.

Slovak star Martin Vaculik led the way on 13 paid 14 points, with Denmark’s Anders Thomsen adding 13 and Latvian ace Andzejs Lebedevs tallying 10 paid 11 points. Young gun Oskar Paluch scored nine paid 11. Former Australian champion Rohan Tungate was Rybnik’s top scorer on 12 paid 14, with Gleb Chugunov bagging 10 paid 11 and Maksym Drabik registering nine paid 10.

The second leg in Gorzow takes place on September 21, with the losing side over two legs relegated to Metalkas 2. Ekstraliga for 2026. The winners face the second-tier runners-up in a further play-off for the eighth and final place in the 2026 PGE Ekstraliga.
