EKSTRALIGA | VACULIK LEADS GORZOW TO DERBY DELIGHT

Slovak star Martin Vaculik raced to 13 paid 14 points for Gorzow to inspire them to a 47-43 victory at home to arch-rivals Zielona Gora in the PGE Ekstraliga’s Lubuskie derby on Sunday.

The world No.5 dropped just one point to an opponent and led partner Oskar Fajfer to a crucial 4-2 over Przemyslaw Pawlicki and SGP first reserve Leon Madsen in heat 15 to make the points safe.

Fajfer also impressed for Gorzow on nine paid 10, while Danish champion Anders Thomsen added eight and his Speedway GP rival Andzejs Lebedevs scored seven – 24 hours after reaching his first SGP podium in Landshut. Pawlicki was Zielona Gora’s top performer on 13 points, with Madsen collecting 11 paid 14.

In the day’s other match, 2021 Speedway GP world champion Artem Laguta scored 12 paid 13 to lead Wroclaw to a vital 47-43 victory away to his old club Grudziadz.

Laguta was well supported by nine paid 10 from WWK FIM Speedway GP of Germany – Landshut runner-up Dan Bewley and eight paid 10 from former world No.3 Maciej Janowski. Speedway GP newcomer Brady Kurtz added eight the day after reaching his first SGP final.

Denmark’s Michael Jepsen Jensen continued his sublime start to 2025 with 14 paid 16 for Grudziadz, which leaves him top of the PGE Ekstraliga averages on 2.571 points per race – ahead of five-time world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik, who is on 2.556.

Former FIM Speedway Under-21 world champion Jakub Miskowiak also starred on 14 paid 15, while Max Fricke added four.
