FIM SGP ACADEMY STARS SET FOR TERENZANO

Twenty two young riders from 11 different countries head to former FIM Speedway GP of Italy venue Terenzano for a racing masterclass at the FIM SGP Academy on Thursday and Friday.

Staged ahead of the FIM SGP Challenge at the Motoclub Olimpia on Saturday evening, the event sees riders aged from 12 to 19 years old hone their skills on a range of bikes from 125cc to 500cc.

Former Speedway GP winner Matej Zagar will be among the coaches, along with FIM Track Racing Commission (CCP) director Armando Castagna and FIM Speedway race director Phil Morris.

The FIM SGP Academy gives riders and their families advice in many aspects of speedway, including sporting and anti-doping regulations, starting and riding techniques, bike preparation, media and social media, sponsorship, fitness and health.

Five British riders take part, including former SGP4 star Oliver Bovingdon, Dylan Huthwaite, Emerson Betty, George Climo and Kane Newby.

Also in action for Slovenia is Felix Zagar – son of coach Matej. Italy is represented by Brando Lunardi, Alex Baruffaldi, Kevin Melato and Matteo Cestaro, while Zoltan Lovas is the sole Hungarian entrant.

Germany is represented by Maximilian Liewald and Mike Jarczewski, with Theo Ugoni attending from France, Lester Matthijssen flying the Dutch flag, Jesper Kvarnstrom joining the field from Sweden and Andre Damian representing Romania.
