FIM SGP3 STARS SET FOR WROCLAW FINAL THRILLER

Polish trio Franciszek Szczyrba, Dawid Oscenda and Oskar Winczewski are among 16 stars from 10 nations going for FIM Speedway Youth World Championship glory in Friday’s Beckhoff FIM SGP3 Final – Wroclaw.

The world’s biggest youth speedway event, which sees the sport’s top under-16 stars battling it out on 250cc bikes, returns to the legendary Olympic Stadium. It takes place 24 hours before the venue hosts the DEWALT FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Wroclaw on Saturday – the 300th SGP round since the series launched in 1995.

It could be a special night for the home crowd as 2025 European 250cc Youth Speedway Championship top two, champion Szczyrba from Rybnik and runner-up Oscenda from Leszno, bid to upgrade their continental medals to global gold.

They head into the Olympic Stadium event, buoyed by finishing first and second in Wednesday’s Semi-Final 2 at Czech track Pardubice, where Szczyrba topped the podium with a 15-point maximum and was the only rider to defeat Oscenda, who finished on 14. They are joined in flying the Polish flag by Winczewski, who comes from Gniezno.

The line-up also features two former SGP4 champions bidding to make the step up to SGP3 success as American racer Brady Landon – champion in 2024 – and Elias Jamil Jensen – the inaugural SGP4 champion in 2023 – both take their places in Wroclaw.

Jensen is the highest-placed returning rider from the 2025 FIM SGP3 Final – Prague, having finished ninth at Marketa Stadium. He rides in his third straight SGP3 final. Denmark is also represented by double SGP4 bronze medallist Niklas Bager, as well as Storm Thomsen.

Slovak prospect Marek Ziman raced to a 15-point maximum in Semi-Final 1 in Pardubice on Tuesday, and he will hope to emulate the nation’s 2024 FIM Wroclaw Speedway GP winner Martin Vaculik in topping the Olympic Stadium podium.

Australia’s two-time SGP4 silver medallist Cooper Antone makes his debut in an SGP3 Final, joining compatriot Nate Smith, who returns after finishing 14th in Prague last year.

Great Britain is represented by Archie Rolph from Chelmsford in Essex, who stormed into his first SGP3 Final with third place in Semi-Final 2 behind Szczyrba and Oscenda. He trains regularly after meetings at Rowe Motor Oil Premiership champions Ipswich and is also part of an academy run by Witches team manager Paul Hurry and HG Aerospace.

Latvian star Andzejs Smulkevics hopes to follow in the footsteps of national icon Andzejs Lebedevs in starring for his fast-rising nation on the SGP stage, while Arsenii Mykulchyn represents Ukraine in the year Nazar Parnitskyi became the country’s first full-time Speedway GP rider and the national team made its FIM Speedway World Cup debut.

Swedish racers Adrian Axelsson and Fabian Magnusson and Germany’s Levi Bohme complete a stellar line-up for what’s set to be an open battle for youth speedway’s biggest prize.

Wroclaw last staged SGP3 action in 2022, when Danish talent Mikkel Andersen carried off the title, before progressing into the FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship (SGP2), winning the bronze medal in 2025.

The SGP3 class of 2026 will hope they can continue their progression up the FIM Speedway pyramid, starting with a big performance at the Olympic Stadium, where over 2,000 fans are expected.
