Germany’s FIM Women’s Speedway Gold Trophy winner Hannah Grunwald has been handed a dream call-up for Friday’s FIM Speedway of Nations – SON2 event in Torun.
With Jonny Wynant withdrawing from the starting line-up due to injury, the promising Mario Hausl steps up to No.2, partnering SGP2 star Norick Blodorn, who skippers the team at No.1.
Grunwald becomes Germany’s No.3 and can be called into action at any time by team managers Sascha Dorner and Mathias Bartz.
If she appears, she would be the first female rider to compete in the FIM Speedway of Nations.
It has already been a memorable 2025 for Grunwald after she saw off compatriot Celina Liebmann to win the FIM Women’s Speedway Gold Trophy in Croatia in July. After criss-crossing the continent to hone her skills, an SON2 call-up is another huge high for the 18-year-old.
