The calendar for Poland’s 2026 PGE Ekstraliga has been revealed with 2025 play-off final rivals Torun and Lublin facing off on the opening weekend.
After missing out on a fourth straight gold medal following their title wins in 2022, 2023 and 2024, a Lublin side, featuring Speedway GP stars Bartosz Zmarzlik, Fredrik Lindgren and Kacper Woryna, hosts 2025 champions Torun, led by skipper Robert Lambert, Patryk Dudek and Emil Sayfutdinov, on either April 10 or 12 as the world’s biggest speedway league gets underway.
The opening weekend also sees Speedway GP host club Wroclaw, spearheaded by 2025 SGP medallists Brady Kurtz and Dan Bewley, welcome Zielona Gora, led by returning Speedway GP star Leon Madsen and new signings Dominik Kubera and Andzejs Lebedevs.
Also in action is Grudziadz, featuring Max Fricke and Michael Jepsen Jensen, as they race at home to Gorzow – a side including the returning Jack Holder. Newly-promoted Leszno hosts the other opening-weekend fixture as they come up against Czestochowa.
The regular season ends on August 23 and the play-offs, which see the top four sides battling for the league title, get underway on August 30. The final is scheduled for September 20 and 27 – with the second leg taking place the day after the FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Torun on September 26.
The bottom four sides compete in the play downs with the losing sides in two semi-finals competing in a play-off for seventh place. The losing team is relegated to Metalkas 2. Ekstraliga. The winning team meets the Metalkas 2. Ekstraliga runner-up in a play-off on September 27 and October 4, where the last place in the 2027 PGE Ekstraliga will be on the line.
The PGE Ekstraliga season gets underway with the Zenon Plech International Individual Ekstraliga Championship (IMME) at new Speedway GP venue Lodz on March 28. This will see Jepsen Jensen defend the title he won in 2025.
