FIM Women’s Speedway Gold Trophy winner Hannah Grunwald could compete in Poland’s National League in 2026 after signing for FIM German Speedway GP host club Landshut.
The Bavarian outfit competes in Poland’s third tier and already has Grunwald’s FIM Speedway of Nations – SON2 title-winning teammate Mario Hausl in their squad for next season.
Grunwald made history in Torun on October 3, becoming the sport’s first-ever female FIM Speedway World Championship gold medal winner in SON2.
Hausl and Grunwald are joined in Landshut by the likes of former Speedway GP rider Kim Nilsson, German stars Erik Riss and Kevin Wolbert, Italian international Paco Castagna and British racers Charles Wright and Leon Flint.
Fellow German juniors Janek Konzack and Tyler Haupt have also agreed terms alongside Grunwald. Coach Peppi Rudolph said: “Our new trio has great potential, ambition and talent. They are, in essence, still rough diamonds that need polishing. I am firmly convinced that all three can develop into top riders, and we will support them in every way possible.
“This is our approach, which is primarily intended to advance German speedway - integrating young top talents into the professional squad in Landshut, developing them further, and ultimately hoping that they will make it to the top of the world rankings.
“Of course, these riders won't stay in Landshut forever but will sign a well-paid contract with a higher-level Polish club after three to four years. If every top talent comes to Landshut at the age of 15, accepts and appreciates the support, receives a top contract at 21 or 22, and the German national team benefits from this, then we will have fulfilled our mission.”
