HOLDER SCORES 17 FOR GORZOW

Speedway GP star Jack Holder piled up a huge 17 points for Gorzow, but it wasn’t enough to save his side from a 50-40 loss away to Leszno in the PGE Ekstraliga on Sunday.

Just six days from the series-opening WWK Schwaiger & Partner FIM Speedway GP of Germany – Landshut on Saturday, Holder raced to victory in his opening three rides, before registering four second places to keep an injury-depleted Gorzow in contention.

In the absence of injured Danish star Anders Thomsen, former SGP rider Pawel Przedpelski scored seven paid nine, with Norway’s Mathias Pollestad adding seven paid eight points.

Aussie star Ben Cook led Leszno to victory on 13 paid 14 points, denied a maximum only after being pipped to the chequered flag by Holder in his opening race.

Cook was backed up by 10 points from compatriot Keynan Rew, with Piotr Pawlicki adding eight paid nine and Ukraine’s Speedway GP debutant Nazar Parnitskyi scoring seven paid eight.

In the day’s other meeting, Danish champion Michael Jepsen Jensen raced to 10 paid 11 points as a rock-solid team effort from Grudziadz earned them a 48-42 win at home to Wroclaw.

Double World Under-21 champion Maksym Drabik collected nine paid 12, with Vadim Tarasenko scoring nine paid 10. Danish talent Bastian Pedersen registered eight and Max Fricke bagged six.

Former Speedway GP world champion Artem Laguta led the Wroclaw scoring on 14, with world No.2 Brady Kurtz tallying 10 and Maciej Janowski collecting eight paid nine. Dan Bewley added five paid six.
