Polish SON2 star Antoni Kawczynski is set to be discharged from hospital after suffering a broken collarbone in Torun’s sparring match away to Zielona Gora on Friday.
The Torun racer – a former SGP3 bronze medallist – suffered the injury when he tangled with Falubaz’s former Speedway GP star Przemyslaw Pawlicki in the opening exchanges of heat 10, before he was collected by Australian SGP2 star Mitch McDiarmid.
Kawczynski withdrew from the meeting and was taken to hospital for checks. Updating fans on his condition, he posted on Instagram: “After a small adventure on the Zielona Gora track, I had to rest a bit at the orthopaedic department but take it easy; I had the care at the highest level. Thanks to the lovely Mrs. Jadzia.
“The broken collarbone is doing well, I'm going home. I just need a little more time and I'm back on track. Thank you very much Municipal Hospital Copernicus of Torun.”
