Polish racer Dominik Kubera insists he isn’t setting any goals for his second FIM Speedway Grand Prix season as he bids to get “the maximum” out of 2025.
Kubera finished eighth in last year’s Speedway GP World Championship, reaching three finals along the way, before racing to third place at the FIM SGP Challenge in Pardubice on October 4 to retain his spot in the series.
The former FIM Speedway World Cup winner also won Poland’s PGE Ekstraliga with Lublin and Sweden’s Bauhaus Elitserien with Lejonen.
Kubera has the chance to build on that fine season in 2025, but he insists his only target is to get the most out of the campaign.
He told PolskiZuzel.pl: “I don't set myself a goal. I want to be happy after each season and each competition, to feel that I've squeezed the maximum out of it. And what the result is, I'll see after the season. In October, I'll sit in an armchair and sum it up.”
Kubera, who has just returned from a training camp in Malta with the Polish national team, isn’t making any major changes to his preparations for the new season.
He said: “I don't like sudden changes; I prefer evolution. The most important thing is the sports result, and this preparation is supposed to help.
"I've been happy for a few years now. I have enough strength during the season, so I don't turn the way I prepare upside down. I change things where I see a deficit.”
Kubera enjoyed the chance to spend some quality time with his international teammates in the Maltese sunshine away from the intensity of the speedway season.
He said: “We have more time than in the season to see each other, talk. This is the biggest advantage of this camp, that we have a moment more time to joke and laugh.”
