Polish racer Dominik Kubera is determined to learn from “a really tough experience” in last year’s Speedway GP series as he bids to build on his FIM SGP Challenge victory and star in 2026.
Despite racing to fourth place at round two in Warsaw, he reached just two last-chance qualifiers in the remaining eight rounds as he finished 12th overall in the Speedway GP World Championship.
Kubera admits he may have put too much expectation on his shoulders in his quest to climb the ladder last year.
So he was elated to top the podium at the 2025 FIM SGP Challenge in Holsted, Denmark to punch his ticket for this year’s series. He said: “That was my goal because last year wasn’t perfect for me in the GP. It was a really tough experience. Now I think I know what the mistakes were, and I am working more effectively to be better.”
Asked what he feels went wrong in 2025, Kubera replied: “It was a combination – small things on my bike and in my preparation for meetings.
“Maybe there was too much pressure, or I wanted to be better too much. This year will be better. I am working hard to be better, and I am crossing my fingers that it will be good for me and my team.
“Last year I finished 12th, and I wouldn’t have been in Speedway GP without winning the Challenge. The Challenge is a second road. I am happy to be here again. I am looking forward to starting the SGP season and I will fight for the best score I can.”
