KURTZ & DOYLE ON ROAD TO RECOVERY

Injured Aussie duo Brady Kurtz and Jason Doyle are determined to fight their way back ahead of the ATPI FIM Speedway GP of Great Britain – Manchester double-header on June 13 and 14.

Kurtz crashed when he dropped a chain on the final turn of last-chance qualifier one (LCQ1) at the FIM Speedway GP of Czech Republic – Prague last Saturday, and he sat out British club Belle Vue’s 47-43 loss at Birmingham live on TNT Sports on Monday night.

Meanwhile, Doyle missed the Prague round. He dislocated his hip at the Orlen Oil FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Warsaw on May 17, before suffering a recurrence of the injury in a PGE Ekstraliga match for Czestochowa on May 25, and he remains sidelined.

It is unclear when the pair will return to racing. But Kurtz was content with an impressive fightback at Marketa Stadium, which saw him win his final two heats to reach LCQ1, having scored only a point from his opening three.

He then led LCQ1 and appeared on course for his third straight final, until Madsen passed him on the final turn and disaster struck.

Posting on Instagram on Sunday, Kurtz wrote: “A tough night from start to finish, but I'm still happy with what we achieved. The chips were down, we stayed calm, made the right choices as a team, and got back in the fight.

“Feeling the effects of that hard hit today – a bit of recovery is needed. I'll be back to tackle rounds four and five in Manchester!”

Meanwhile, Doyle posted a photo of him undergoing treatment in an oxygen chamber near Norwich in the UK.

He wrote: “Thank you @chedgraveoxygentherapynorwich for letting me come use your oxygen therapy! Giving me the best chance of coming back sooner! Plenty of fight left in me!”

We wish both riders a speedy recovery.
