KVECH'S FINAL GOAL

Czech charger Jan Kvech was gutted he didn’t reach the final as he impressed in Saturday’s ATPI FIM Speedway GP of Great Britain – Manchester R4.

After scoring five championship points in Friday’s R3, Kvech finished third in Saturday’s LCQ2, despite briefly leading eventual race winner Bartosz Zmarzlik and second-placed Jason Doyle.

Scoring 10 championship points was one of Kvech’s best Speedway GP results so far, but he is still longing for his first final appearance.

He told Sportowefakty.pl: “I rode very well. I fought, I was able to win heats, and I had great bike speed. On the one hand, I have positive feelings, but on the other, I'm disappointed that I didn't make it to the final, because I really could have. But something's still missing. I just have to keep riding, working, and eventually, if the opportunity arises, I'll make it to the final.”

Kvech suffered heartbreak in his bid to return to Speedway GP after crashing out of his qualifier in Abensberg, Germany on May 25.

His main hope now of a return for 2027 appears to be receiving a wild card from the SGP Commission, but Kvech insisted: “I'm not counting on it. I want to enter the GP series like I did in my first season, meaning by qualifying. I need to learn from unsuccessful seasons. I'm hungry for points, for the final. I have motivation for the future.”
