Latvian ace Andzejs Lebedevs and 2021 Speedway GP world champion Artem Laguta get sideways in the States when they line up in the World Speedway Invitational at Industry Hills Speedway near Los Angeles on Saturday.
The duo swaps the fast and furious European tracks for a tight and technical, 200-metre oval at the fully covered Californian venue for one of North America’s biggest speedway events this year.
Also in action are former world No.3 Maciej Janowski, his fellow Polish star Przemyslaw Pawlicki and Great Britain’s two-time FIM Speedway of Nations world champion Tom Brennan.
Flying the US flag are the likes of former FIM North America champion Max Ruml, Broc Nicol, Billy Janniro, Slater Lightcap, Gino Manzares, Austin Novratil, Aaron Fox, Alex Martin, Timmy Dion and Wilbur Hancock – eldest son of four-time Speedway GP world champion Greg Hancock.
The riders will compete over the previous Speedway GP format, featuring 20 heats, with the top eight riders advancing into the two semi-finals and the top two finishers in each battling it out in the final.
