NORTHAMPTON REVEALS NICKNAME AND MANAGEMENT TEAM

Rowe Motor Oil Premiership newcomers Northampton have confirmed they will be known as the Foxes, with Paul Hunsdon and Tony Gaul named as the club’s co-promoters.

The Brafield-based club joins Britain’s top flight to complete a six-team league, with a number of the current Premiership promoters joining forces to ensure another team could come to the tapes.

Foxes’ first fixtures are away to King’s Lynn on April 20 and Ipswich on April 23, before Brafield hosts its first Rowe Motor Oil Premiership match, when champions Ipswich come to town on April 30.

Northampton International Shaleway is currently undergoing renovations to make the stock car track suitable for speedway.

Both Hunsdon and Gaul had worked with previous speedway promotions in Reading, while Gaul has also been involved in Birmingham. They are joined by team manager Chris Adams – son of legendary Wolves boss Peter Adams.

Hunsdon can’t wait to get started. He said: “I’m delighted to be part of the promotion team at Northampton. The stakeholders have worked tirelessly to get the project over the line in a short timeframe and I’m excited for the season ahead on and off the track.”

Gaul added: “I’m so pleased to be involved in what is another new adventure for me in speedway, and I am looking forward to working alongside Paul Hunsdon as co-promoter and getting the season underway.

“There’s been so much hard work by many over the last few weeks to get this all together, and I believe that the team we have will make a decent impact on the Premiership.

“We are all fully committed to making a great success here at Northampton Speedway, and I hope that the fans turn out in their droves to support us.”
