POLES HAND TEENAGE SENSATION PAWELCZAK DREAM SON2 DEBUT IN TORUN

Poland’s 2024 SGP3 world champion Maksymilian Pawelczak has been handed a dream call-up for FIM Speedway of Nations – SON2 in Torun this Friday after skipper Wiktor Przyjemski withdrew due to injury.

Przyjemski’s withdrawal ends his three-year run of gold medals in the FIM Team Speedway Under-21 World Championship, but his absence affords a huge opportunity to a 16-year-old sensation, who is already being talked about as a future Speedway GP rider.

Pawelczak topped the FIM Speedway Youth World Championship podium in Gorzow in June 2024 and has only been eligible for professional competition on a 500cc bike since he celebrated his 16th birthday on September 21.

But he turned heads with an outstanding 10 paid 11 points for Metalkas 2. Ekstraliga side Bydgoszcz in their promotion-relegation play-off, first leg at home to Gorzow last Sunday.

Polish boss Rafal Dobrucki wasted no time in pairing No.1 Pawelczak with new team captain Damian Ratajczak, who stays at No.2, with local favourite Antoni Kawczynski retaining the No.3 reserve role.

The Poles take on Australia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Great Britain, Latvia and Sweden for SON2 gold at the Marian Rose Motoarena, bidding to win their 12th straight FIM Team Speedway Under-21 World Championship and their 18th in total.

Tickets for Wednesday’s FIM SON Semi-Final, plus SON2 on Friday and the FIM SON Final this Saturday are still available online. Secure your spot at Torun’s Marian Rose Motoarena HERE now.
