POLES WIN EURO PAIRS

Poland’s next generation of stars Wiktor Przyjemski, Maksymilian Pawelczak and Kevin Malkiewicz pipped Latvia to gold in the European Pairs Championship in Grudziadz on Saturday.

The Poles triumphed on 26 points – beating Latvia by one – with 2024 SGP2 champion Przyjemski impressing on 14, with Malkiewicz adding eight and Pawelczak scoring four.

Latvia came agonisingly close to forcing a run-off with Francis Gusts winning heat 21, only for Speedway GP star Andzejs Lebedevs to be left in third place behind Denmark’s Frederik Jakobsen. Gusts scored 14 points and Lebedevs accrued 11.

The Czech team took bronze medals on 20, with Speedway GP first reserve Jan Kvech scoring 13 and Vaclav Milik picking up seven. The Danes just missed out on the podium with 19, as Jakobsen collected 14 points and Mads Hansen added five. Italy, Great Britain and Finland all tied on 12.
