Fans are being encouraged to join forces to support German racer Max Dilger as motorcycle website SpeedWeek.com takes part in the Wings for Life World Run on May 4.
Dilger’s 2024 season came to a cruel end when he was involved in a crash during a French league match in October. In addition to several broken bones, Dilger sustained a serious injury to his thoracic spine, which led to severe damage to his spinal cord.
Since his discharge from hospital, the 35-year-old has been undergoing physiotherapy at the Center for Rehabilitation in Pforzheim, most recently spending eight weeks there.
Dilger has six hours of individual therapy per day, at a cost of just under €4,500 per week. Regular health insurance doesn't cover any of this, and the greatest contribution to this has come from Max's fans, who have so far donated almost €44,000 to him via his Go Fund Me page.
To help Dilger step up his rehabilitation, SpeedWeek.com is participating in the World Run with its own team, for which motorsport fans from all over the world can register.
There's no pressure to complete a specific distance in this race. Everyone can set their own goal. By participating with the World Run app, which is available here, everyone can choose their own running route and start the race from their own front door.
After registering in the app, fans can search for SPEEDWEEK.COM MAX DILGER under the ‘Teams’ menu and join the team, or CLICK HERE.
Anyone who would like to join the team and help Max out can register for the World Run. At the same time, SpeedWeek.com asks that you deposit at least €10 into Max's donation account.
The €25 entry fee for the World Run goes to Wings for Life's spinal cord research fund, helping to find a cure for paraplegia. Donations for Max go directly to him via Go Fund Me; there are no administrative costs.
