Former Speedway GP star Emil Sayfutdinov is heading for Denmark’s Speedwayligaen in 2026 after sealing a deal with Esbjerg.
Sayfutdinov won league titles with British club Torun and British team Ipswich this year. While he continues at Torun’s Marian Rose Motoarena, he recently announced his departure from the Witches.
He will now go for gold in Denmark and Esbjerg boss Tom P Madsen is excited to see him in action.
He said: “It is with great pleasure that we can present Emil Sayfutdinov as a new Esbjerg Vikings rider in 2026. With Emil, we not only get one of the sport's biggest profiles; we also get a rider who combines top results, strong professionalism and a fantastic attitude on the track.
“His credentials speak for themselves, and together with the strong team around him, he adds enormous quality to the club. His arrival gives us completely new opportunities when we put the team together, and at the same time, ensures that we are even stronger at the top of the squad.
“Should we encounter challenges like this year, we are now covered. We look forward to an exciting and successful collaboration with Emil and his team – and to seeing him bring speed and colour to Granly Speedway Arena in 2026.”
Elsewhere, former SGP2 rider Jonas Knudsen has secured clubs Denmark and Sweden, signing for Holsted in the Speedwayligaen and Rospiggarna in Sweden’s Bauhaus Elitserien.
Meanwhile, another SGP2 alumni Kevin Juul Pedersen has completed a move to champions Slangerup after leaving Holsted.
And Speedwayligaen newcomer Nordjysk Elite Speedway has announced Swedish international Timo Lahti, Dimitri Buch and local favourite Tobias Thomsen will represent the Brovst club as they return to the top flight for 2026.
