German racer Kai Huckenbeck is five rides away from securing his spot in the 2026 FIM Speedway Grand Prix series after winning his Speedway GP qualifier in Abensberg, Germany on Monday.
Huckenbeck topped the podium in Bavaria on 14 points – earning him a spot at the FIM SGP Challenge in Holsted, Denmark on August 9, where the top four riders are guaranteed places in next year’s Speedway GP series.
He’s joined in qualifying by one of the sport’s in-form riders – Danish racer Michael Jepsen Jensen, who was second on 13 as he bids to end his 10-year absence from the main Speedway GP line-up.
Speedway GP regular Jack Holder of Australia was third on 12, with Poland’s Dominik Kubera fourth on 11 as the pair progresses to Holsted, where they will bid to defend their SGP places.

German international Erik Riss also made it through on 11 as the WWK FIM Speedway GP of Germany – Landshut wild card seeks a spot in Speedway GP for the first time in his career.
Sweden’s Kim Nilsson fell just short on 10, with Czech racer Daniel Klima eliminated on nine and Finnish international Jesse Mustonen exiting the SGP qualifiers on eight.
The FIM SGP Challenge line-up will now be completed by a wild card and two track reserves to be confirmed in due course.
