SGP2 STAR BLODORN BECOMES DOUBLE GERMAN CHAMPION

SGP2 racer Norick Blodorn stormed to his second German Championship as Speedway GP star Kai Huckenbeck triumphed with a 15-point maximum at the final round in Brokstedt on Saturday.

Despite winning two of the rounds unbeaten to finish on 30 championship points, Huckenbeck missed two meetings, meaning he was unable to score sufficient points to lift the title, with Blodorn topping the podium on 45, despite sitting out the Stralsund round.

Victory for Blodorn sees him add to the German title he won in 2022 and comes as the perfect preparation for his final FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship round – the Deluxe Homeart FIM SGP2 of Denmark – Vojens on Friday. Blodorn heads to the home of Danish speedway placed eighth in the overall standings on 19 points – just seven short of the podium.

FIM SGP Challenge finalist Kevin Wolbert took the German Championship silver medal on 40, with Valentin Grobauer bagging bronze on 33. Patrick Hyjek and Janek Konzack just missed out on a rostrum place on 32.

Huckenbeck’s 30 points earned him sixth spot, with FIM Women’s Speedway Gold Trophy winner Hannah Grunwald racing to a sensational seventh place overall on 26 points.

She bagged a terrific 10 of those in the Brokstedt round, taking fifth spot on the day, with 2024 FIM Women’s Speedway Gold Trophy winner Celina Liebmann scoring five, while Patricia Erhart scored one.
