Returning Speedway GP star Anders Thomsen will launch his 2026 FIM Speedway Grand Prix qualification bid at Slovak circuit Zarnovica on June 7.
The Danish federation has confirmed its entrants for this year’s SGP qualifiers, and Thomsen heads their list after being crowned Danish champion for the third time last season.
He will have two more chances to secure his spot in next year’s Speedway GP series as he will line up in the four-round Speedway European Championship, with the winner guaranteed an SGP 2026 spot. Thomsen could also secure his Speedway GP status by finishing in the World Championship’s top six this season.
The Gorzow and Vojens star is joined in the SGP qualifiers by last year’s Danish Championship runner-up Michael Jepsen Jensen, who takes part in the round at Abensberg in Germany on June 9, while former Danish champion Rasmus Jensen heads to Italian track Lonigo on June 7.
Thomsen is joined in the Speedway European Championship series by Speedway GP first reserve Leon Madsen, who won SEC silver last year. Frederik Jakobsen, Rasmus Jensen, Michael Jepsen Jensen, Tim Sorensen and Jonas Jeppesen will all take part in the SEC qualifiers, hoping for the chance to compete against them.
Denmark’s contenders for SGP2 qualification have also been announced, with Vojens stars Mikkel Andersen and Jesper Knudsen both on their way to the qualifier at Czech track Pardubice on May 24.
Former SGP3 runner-up Villads Nagel bids for qualification at British venue Glasgow on May 24, while Bastian Pedersen – nephew of triple Speedway GP world champion Nicki Pedersen – competes in Debrecen, Hungary on June 7.
All four SGP2 entrants raced in the 2024 FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship series and will be keen to secure return tickets.
Should they qualify, they will be guaranteed a place at all three rounds, including the series-closing Deluxe Homeart FIM SGP2 of Denmark – Vojens on Friday, September 12.
This will be the opening night of an epic weekend of action, which sees three world champions crowned as the legendary stadium celebrates 50 years of racing.
