Former SGP3 champion Rasmus Karlsson is set to continue his progress in Sweden’s Bauhaus Elitserien after signing a two-year contract with boyhood club Indianerna.
Karlsson stormed into the spotlight when he lifted the 250cc FIM Speedway Youth World Championship at the 2023 FIM SGP3 Final in Malilla. He was also part of Sweden's silver medal-winning FIM Speedway of Nations SON2 side in Manchester last summer.
The youngster has just completed his first full season with Indians at 500cc level and can’t wait to continue his development in Kumla.
He told the club’s official website: “It feels absolutely right to extend with my parent club. I am happy about both my own and the team's development, which I both believe and hope will continue in the 2025 season.
“Today I also want to take the opportunity to thank the fans and sponsors for the past season. Without you there will be no speedway! Now we are fully targeting 2025!”
Team boss Peter Johansson sees Karlsson as one of the sport’s rising stars. He added: “As a team leader, it feels great fun to me that we have agreed terms with one of speedway sport's great future names. The fact that the contract is also for two years gives us extra fuel in our investment in steering Rasmus in the best way.
"On a personal level, I think it will be great fun to work together for another season and get to know the person behind the enormous winner Rasmus Karlsson even more.”
Karlsson joins forces with the likes of world No.2 Patryk Dudek, FIM North America champion Luke Becker, SGP2 star Sebastian Szostak, Krzysztof Buczkowski and Jonatan Grahn.
