THOMSEN ISSUES INJURY UPDATE

Danish racer Anders Thomsen admits he faces some time on the sidelines after suffering injuries at the European Team Championship Semi-Finals in Pardubice last Saturday.

While Denmark won the meeting, the Speedway GP first substitute rider crashed with Gorzow teammate Mathias Pollestad, who was representing Norway, in their opening ride.

Neither rider took part in the remainder of the meeting, with Thomsen taken to hospital for checks. In a video posted on Monday afternoon, he confirmed he was on his way to Denmark for further assessment.

He said: “First of all, I want to say thank you for all the kind messages. Now I am on my way in my van, laying down, going to a Danish hospital for some more checks.

“As you know, I broke three ribs, but I also broke L5 in the spine. I don’t need surgery. I just need some time off, and hopefully I will be back on the bike as soon as possible. Thanks for all the kind messages, and I will be back stronger.”

We wish Anders a speedy recovery.
