THORSSELL PENS NEW DEAL WITH SWEDISH CHAMPIONS

Double Swedish champion Jacob Thorssell is determined to defend Vastervik’s Bauhaus Elitserien crown after sealing a return for 2026.

Thorssell helped Vastervik land its first league title since 2005 this year, joining forces with the likes of Speedway GP stars Fredrik Lindgren and Robert Lambert.

The 32-year-old said: “It feels great to extend with Vastervik. I feel very comfortable at the club and with everything around me, so there was not much to think about. The season ended in the best way with a gold medal and now we will do everything we can to defend it.”

Thorssell also raced for his country in the FIM Speedway of Nations in Torun, playing a key role in their victory at Semi-Final 1, before the team finished fourth in the Final last Saturday.

New Vastervik boss Mikael Teurnberg, who replaces Morgan Andersson at the helm ahead of the 2026 season, is pleased to start his team building plans with one of Sweden’s top stars.

He said: “It will be very fun to be reunited with Jacob. I recruited him to Rospiggarna for the 2016 season and then we won the Swedish Championship. We had three seasons together and then another two in Dackarna, so we know each other well.

“Jacob is an important piece of the puzzle in the team building and has a very high capacity. He is coming off a strong season and will be an important cog for us next year as well.”
