Double Aussie champion Rohan Tungate has announced his departure from Polish club Rybnik following their relegation from the PGE Ekstraliga.
After helping the club to promotion into the top flight as Metalkas 2. Ekstraliga champions in 2024, Tungate retained his spot in the side, averaging 1.745 points per race and competing in every match, despite having to fight for his place against the likes of former world champions Nicki Pedersen and Chris Holder.
Tungate admits his desire to continue testing himself in the PGE Ekstraliga prompted him to depart Rybnik. Posting on Facebook, he wrote: “The news is out! I’ll be leaving Rybnik. It wasn’t an easy decision for me, as I’ve really enjoyed being a part of Rybnik. My reason is simple; I just want to race at the highest level.
“I’ve had two great seasons here – a time I’ll always remember. I can’t thank everyone at the club enough, the president, trainers, office staff, medics, track crew, and everyone involved.
“I also want to thank Krzysztof Mrozek for having me over the last two years, for the opportunity and support. I can’t fault him from a rider’s point of view.
“To the fans, thank you for your support through both the good and tough times. It has meant a lot to me. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll be back. For now, see you around.”
Elsewhere, newly-promoted Leszno has confirmed that Australian former SGP2 rider Keynan Rew will return to the Alfred Smoczyk Stadium for 2026.
