TWIST THE THROTTLE | EPISODE 2 | CLOSE RIVALS

Great Britain racer Robert Lambert admits it’s every Brit for himself in Speedway GP as he opened up on his friendship and rivalry with fellow FIM Speedway of Nations world champion Dan Bewley.

Speaking in Episode 2 of Twist the Throttle, Close Rivals, which drops on YouTube at 18:00 UK time / 19:00 CET this evening, the Lions duo take a look back on some of the key moments of 2024 – watch the video below or click to comment along with fans from around the world on YouTube.

The pair made history last summer, lifting GB’s second FIM SON world title in three years in Manchester, before Bewley led Lambert to Britain’s first-ever Speedway GP one-two in Cardiff.

Bewley attended Lambert’s wedding towards the end of last year and the pair are firm friends away from the sport. But Lambert admits it’s all business when the tapes go up in Speedway GP.

Asked if they were friends, he replied: “Yes, definitely – we are. We have known each other since a very young age, so we have kind of grown together and come through the ranks. I think it’s incredible that me and him are in the GP series.

“When it comes to the individual stage, we say hello and we are friends, but we are racing for ourselves, and it doesn’t matter if he’s my teammate or not. We want to get to the same position on the track.”

Hear more from world No.2 Lambert as he reflects on his quest for a first Speedway GP win. Meanwhile, Bewley looks back on his Cardiff triumph on his way to fourth place in the championship and there’s insight throughout from American great Greg Hancock.
