Triple Speedway GP world champion Tai Woffinden played down suggestions of a rapid racing return, insisting “I’m just taking it one day at a time.”
Woffinden suffered multiple fractures and was airlifted to hospital when he crashed in Polish club Rzeszow’s sparring match away to Krosno on March 30.
The Great Britain hero, who spent five days in an induced coma, has been released from hospital and is now setting out on the road to recovery.
While Woffinden is renowned as one of the sport’s most determined characters, he admits he has no comeback date in mind at this stage, despite media speculation of possible return dates.
Posting on Facebook, he wrote: “My days are so up and down! I have delt with a broken bone here and there, but what I have done this time around, it’s a whole different level!
“So many different injuries at the same time! I haven’t had a full night’s sleep since I was in the coma. I have read a few articles regarding me coming back. You have to understand that I always set myself a goal because it gives me something to chase.
“Currently I have no date. I’m just taking it one day at a time.
"I need time to readjust and let my body heal. Thanks so much for all your support. I see it and hear it! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
