WORYNA: MAKING IT COUNT IN SPEEDWAY GP

Polish star Kacper Woryna is determined to make his FIM Speedway Grand Prix debut season “mean something” after finishing second in the FIM SGP Challenge to book his Speedway GP spot for 2026.

Woryna raced to 11 points in the heats in Holsted to secure the top-four finish needed to reach the sport’s biggest stage for the first time.

He then took second place in the final behind compatriot Dominik Kubera. Third-placed Leon Madsen and Andzejs Lebedevs in fourth joined them in sealing SGP qualification in Denmark.

Woryna is new to the main Speedway GP line-up, having only made two previous appearances as a wild card and track reserve. But the 2024 Speedway European Championship bronze medallist wants to do more than just live his dream.

He said: “I was asked how it feels to achieve my dream. The difference here is that it used to be a dream – until I grew up and it became a goal for me.

“Now being in the GPs isn’t just about being there, which is super cool for me. I want to be there and make it mean something. I don’t want to be dead last.

“We will see how it goes. The competition is tough, but the main goal is to have fun and enjoy my racing. When you do that, you can accomplish great things.

“I know what I can expect from myself and definitely the competition with the top 16 in the world is going to be a great lesson. I just hope I can take a lot from it.”

Woryna still has a chance to be crowned European champion this season, standing just four points behind SEC frontrunner Patryk Dudek with two rounds remaining.

But he no longer needs the SGP spot on offer to the European champion after sealing qualification in Holsted with some superb starts and smart rides against a classy field.

He said: “We had some good competition. None of the riders that came to Holsted were slow. When you have tough competition, it’s more like chess on the track – not only racing. You have to be smarter than your rivals and move around the track well enough to be at the front.

“When you make the starts, it’s a lot easier. I felt I had good speed, I picked the right engine, and it worked. I want to say thank you to my guys, my team, my family and everyone who supports me.”
