Speedway GP star Kacper Woryna has the chance to put the family name back on to the Polish Championship trophy for the first time in 60 years when he lines up in Ostrow tonight.
Woryna bids to follow in the tyre treads of his legendary grandfather Antoni Woryna, who won the Polish Championship in their home city Rybnik in 1966.
The Lublin star leads the championship standings on 26 points ahead of tonight’s finale, with Maciej Janowski and European champion Patryk Dudek chasing on 22 and six-time Speedway GP world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik on 20 points in fourth place – tied with Krzysztof Buczkowski, Piotr Pawlicki and SGP2 star Wiktor Przyjemski.
Woryna needs 15 points to be certain of the gold medal and add another glorious moment to a season, which has already seen him win the WWK Schwaiger & Partner FIM Speedway GP of Germany – Landshut and Poland’s Golden Helmet, as well as reaching the FIM SGP Challenge podium for a second straight year to book his place in the 2027 Speedway GP series.
While Woryna seeks his first national crown, Janowski and Zmarzlik are chasing title No.4, with Dudek seeking No.3. Speedway GP star Dominik Kubera starts the night in ninth spot on 15 points.
