WRIGHT MOVES TO STAL GORZOW

Great Britain international Charles Wright is back in Poland’s PGE Ekstraliga after moving to Stal Gorzow on loan for the rest of 2026.

The move comes as Speedway GP star Jack Holder remains on the sidelines with multiple injuries after crashing out of the DEWALT FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Wroclaw on June 20. With ongoing concerns over nerve damage affecting his hand, he could miss the upcoming PGE Ekstraliga play downs as the bottom four sides battle to avoid relegation.

Wright recently secured a wild card spot in the 2027 FIM Speedway GP of Great Britain by finishing second at the Cab Direct British Speedway Championship Final in Manchester on August 15.

After starting the season with a shoulder injury, Wright has stormed back into form and has been named in GB’s squad for the BOLL FIM Speedway World Cup Final – Warsaw at PGE Narodowy on August 29.

After making the move on loan from German-based Polish National League side Landshut, Wright now gets his chance to impress with Gorzow, starting at home to champions Torun in the PGE Ekstraliga on Sunday. Gorzow is sixth going into the final regular round of matches this weekend.

Speaking to the club’s social media channels, Wright said: “As you can see, this is an absolutely amazing stadium. The city is really nice. I have been welcomed with open arms to the club. I am really looking forward to it.

“It’s a massive stage of the competition with the play downs coming up, so I know how vital it is for Gorzow to stay in the league. With the club and the team, I am sure we will work together and fight to stay in the Ekstraliga.

“I am an out-and-out racer. I always give it 100 percent and I am looking forward to the challenge. See you all on Sunday – we are hoping for a big win.”
